Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning Review- A Glorious End to 29 years of Greatness

What separates a good pickpocket from a great one? Timing! Blink of an eye. The entire movie is based on this only notion. Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning taught us that “nothing is written”. The timings of events and our actions create a web of consequences, intricately weaving our own lives and those of others.
Never has an action movie brought tears to our eyes. Mission Impossible 8 did it with a heartfelt message from Luther to Ethan. What a spectacular curtain call for an action legacy that has entertained us for three decades.
Here is our version of Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning review that will help you decide whether you should watch Tom Cruise’s one final mission or skip it.
Plot details of Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning
In our previous article, we gave an overview of the plot of Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning. Still, for revisiting purposes, a more powerful artificial intelligence antagonist, the Entity, is set to take over the world, and wants Ethan (played by Tom Cruise) to bring Podkova, the source code device for the Entity, from the wrecks of a Russian submarine whose coordinates are unknown.
The Entity ensures that Ethan believes that everything is written and must comply with its command. However, Ethan decides to act more sensibly, as he has always done, and not to give in to the Entity. He has a plan with his team, which consists of Grace (Hayley Atwell), Luther (Ving Rhames), Benji (Simon Pegg), and some other new members as well.

Actors’ performances in Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning
Although Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt got the maximum screen presence, Hayley Atwell as Grace was the second person to do so. Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn was the third, while Ving Rhames as Luther was the least but memorable.
Paris was an assassin introduced to the story, portrayed by Pom Klementieff. Greg Tarzan Davis was also new in his role as Degas. Both of them had small screen time but were always there with Ethan.
Tom Cruise, Atwell, and Pegg made a significant impact on the story. It was particularly fascinating to watch Atwell, Pegg, and Klementieff in the last act of the film where Grace was trying to capture the Entity in the poison pill and pull it out at “just the right instant” to stop it from encrypting the rest of the world’s nuclear bombs.
The sequence was universe-bending because it was a literal do-or-die situation for the team and the world. Pegg was on the verge of dying, Atwell was helpless without him and Klementieff had a brain-busting responsibility of keeping Pegg alive till the task was done. Skull-splittingly good acting!
What do critics add to the Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning review?
The critics’ consensus on Rotten Tomatoes showed positive sentiments for the film. The review said,
“Gargantuan in action, runtime, and scope, The Final Reckoning is a sentimental sendoff for Ethan Hunt that accomplishes its mission with a characteristic flair for the impossible.” [Source]
The critics agree that “it is not the best of the series”, yet it was the most elegant and most breathtaking in terms of stunts. Tom Cruise has left no stone unturned in terms of the advanced stunts that he performed with each film of the Mission Impossible franchise. The critics agree that he is “most vulnerable” and “most ambitious” in this film.
Fans reaction
“Worth the wait” is the first notable reaction from the fans for this movie. They were euphoric that Tom Cruise never disappoints and that it was the last time they would watch him going bonkers when it comes to daredevil stunts.
A few blasts from the past made the film more unforgettable and the action scenes were full of intensity and excitement, matching perfectly with the last film of the Mission Impossible franchise. Fans are bowing out to the blazing glory of Tom Cruise and his perilous stunts.
Is it worth watching?

Oh my God, hell yes! It is worth watching, over and over again! The connection with the previous films of the franchise was well-thought. No glimpse from the previous flicks seemed uselessly infused as it all made sense with the final part.
We need not say anything about the stunts. Tom Cruise is a lunatic and the newly announced Oscar category for best stunts surely needs to be rewarded to Tom Cruise, in honors, despite the film being released three years prior to the actual year the award would commence at Oscars 2028.
Talking about the intrigue, thrill, fear, and anxiety levels that the film induced into us- we don’t have a measure for that. It was eye-popping, head-spinning, and earth-shattering, but we could not stop ourselves from watching what happened next. Will Tom Cruise survive without the special diving suit going down the waters for the wrecked submarine to get Podkova by inserting the special key?
Will Tom Cruise survive after he takes off all of his clothes in the water and tries to swim back to the surface of the water but can’t breathe? Will Tom Cruise survive without any harness or safety leash on the airplane when he is going after Gabriel? Check out what he told to BBC about his most daring stunt.
It was a soul-shaking view, knowing that the entire stunt was pulled off by him alone, without any help. The uncontrollable air going into his eyes and mouth was proof that the stunts were real.    Â
We have our doubts clear which arose when Tom Cruise said, “I need you to trust me one last time” in the teaser trailer. We have our doubts clear with the title that is there for a reason: the FINAL reckoning- one last labyrinthine calculation that Ethan had to make to save the world.
