The month-long marathon just begun! Marvel devised a clever marketing plan for Avengers: Doomsday that will be rolled out next year, in December.
With the Avatar: Fire and Ash theatrical debut on December 19, 2025, Marvel planned to give us a four-week Avengers Doomsday teasers event where cinemagoers will be enjoying every new teaser each week on big screens.
The returning directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, who also helmed The Electric State this year, are excited for the Avengers film, where their heroes will be fighting Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.
Avengers Doomsday Teaser 1: Captain America
The first teaser was released last week, and it focused on Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, aka Captain America. He is seen holding the child in the teaser, who could presumably be with Peggy Carter (Haley Atwell). Her presence is not seen in the teaser at the moment, but we expect that she will likely be playing a role in Doomsday.
The silent teaser has no explosive action and no villain monologue, but the peaceful rural surroundings where Rogers parks his motorbike in front of his home set an emotional tone.
Rogers is seen cradling his newborn baby, implying he has become a parent. The teaser instantly reframes the new emotional stakes of Captain America. His priorities have expanded beyond duty to include fatherhood.
Avengers Doomsday Teaser 2: Thor
The second teaser shows the God of Thunder, Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth). In the teaser, he is also seen with his daughter (India Rose Hemsworth), as per Deadline, and Thor praying to his father to protect him against Doctor Doom.
His prayer says,
“Lend me the strength of the all-fathers so that I may fight once more, defeat one more enemy, and return home to her.”
He is with his adopted child, Love, which proves the fact that this time, Avengers: Doomsday‘s focus will be on children and family. Love has grown up now, and Thor wishes to teach her “stillness” rather than be raised in a world of battle.
Avengers: Doomsday plot possibly highlights personal missions beyond heroic battle
Doomsday filmmakers want to bring an emotional depth to the story so that each Avenger’s mission is evident: to provide safety to their families and the entire world; hence, the stakes are quite high.
The themes of family and parenthood seem to be central to the plot, raising the emotional stakes significantly. The departure from their previous heroic roles and emphasis on their parental roles indicates that Doctor Doom poses the greatest threat not just to the warriors, the planet, but to their loved ones, too.
Despite scarce details of the main plot, Doomsday’s themes aim to reflect a personal fight against the villain for survival and returning to the people waiting at home. Possibly, families might have to pay the price of the war.
Even the post-credits scene of Fantastic Four: First Steps shows Doctor Doom approaching Franklin Richards for a likely mysterious purpose. The scene ends by saying, “The Fantastic Four will return in Avengers: Doomsday.”
Doomsday speculations are already pouring in from fans as Marvel heroes are expected to discover that protecting their families is a challenge unlike any other world-saving mission.
Heroism might not be fighting the villains this time- it’s also protecting the people who matter the most. The story might unfold survival at devastating costs and personal sacrifice, meeting global danger.
How many Avengers Doomsday teasers are there?
There are four unique teasers, and each will be playing every week after Avatar: Fire and Ash showing in theatres.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released in theatres on December 18, 2026.
