After a Long Wait, Final Destination Bloodlines Teaser Drops For The Epic Sixth Chapter

The scene where the tree log falls off the truck and hits the car right on its tail still gives us the scares of our lifetime. We are talking about one of the highest-grossing horror franchises of New Line Cinema, Final Destination.

Its sixth installment is finally here after a long wait of 14 years! The fifth part of Final Destination was released in 2011 and just when we were about to lose count, Final Destination Bloodlines teaser dropped out of nowhere!

Plot of Final Destination Bloodlines

Final Destination is known for its creative deaths that have been haunting us whenever its new sequel comes out. Death’s creativity needs to be stronger than before in every new part as the competition is tough with movies like The Monkey already grossing high, and that is what Final Destination 6 is here for.

There are hints in the very title. ‘Bloodlines’ refer to the death crawling in the family lines which becomes evident when a college student, Stefanie starts getting nightmares and realizes that her grandmother had warned of death coming after her family, as per Bloody Disgusting

She is up for breaking the cycle and doing whatever in her power she can to protect her loved ones. Here’s the trailer:

We bet you will have to close your eyelids for a second or two as soon as you anticipate the pulling of nose piercing right from the man’s nose in the clip. The teaser trailer is bang-on and truly justifies “Death’s twisted sense of justice”.

This would be a huge shift from the regular storyline of the Final Destination saga where only death came hunting for people, sometimes, without a solid reason. But don’t worry, Final Destination 6 is here to save the day, and give a boost to the franchise of course!

An important update: Tony Todd will be back! A heartfelt tribute

Tony Todd played the mortician William Bludworth in Final Destination 1, 2 and 5. Although he passed away last November, he still has a role in Final Destination: Bloodlines.

How? Because Stefanie heads to meet one person who could help her break the cycle. It could likely be Tony Todd, having expert knowledge about death as he had seen those people closely, as per AV Club

It would be special to see him in one of his last roles before he passed away and bring a meaningful turn in the feature.

Will Final Destination 6 follow the same formula as previous films?

Something new is brewing. Based on Movie Web reports, the franchise has vowed to instill creativity this time and divert a bit from its regular formula of throwing accidental deaths here and there.

This time, it would be about the narrative of ‘death’ itself. How the cycle began and how it has been cursing generations for multiple years- all the interesting questions will be answered here.

The breakdown of the films’ releases and a long gap in the franchise’s final installment have an explanation. Have a look:

Final Destination2000
Final Destination 22003
Final Destination 32006
The Final Destination (4)2009
Final Destination 52011
Final Destination 6 (Bloodlines)2025

The first four films were released about three years in between, and Final Destination 5 arrived after two years. The reason Final Destination 6 took so long could possibly be due to the pressure of the filmmakers to deliver something different this time.

Jeffrey Redrick, the screenwriter of Final Destination (2000), confirmed this while talking in an interview with Dread Central,

“This one is actually a true Final Destination movie but it doesn’t follow that kind of formula that we’ve kind of established.”

Simply showing characters die one after the other makes the film monotonous. It becomes hard to do anything new after that and even coming up with novel ideas for death becomes a challenge in itself.

The multigenerational storyline makes perfect sense this time, attempting to bring freshness to the perspective, and that too, after a long wait. The true essence of anxiety-inducing horror would remain the same but with an elaboration of death sequences along with clever tension-building, as we have got proof in the from of its teaser trailer.

Embracing generational horror could be both terrifying and welcoming since it is meant to provide newness to the intertwining of fate, family legacies, destiny, and fight between death and survival.

Waiting for 14 years might be worth it [fingers crossed].

Is Final Destination 6 the longest movie of the series?

Coming from Digital Spy, The Irish Film Classification Office (IFCO) notified that Final Destination 6 will be the longest in the franchise. It will run at 109 minutes (1 hour 49 minutes) while the first part was just 98 minutes long.

Why not? It’s teaser trailer shook the ground so hard that its strong and grisly events and language certainly earned it an R rating.

JoBlo noted that its poster mentioned an MPA rating that clearly mentioned ‘R’, certifying that the under-17 audience requires parent or adult guardian’s supervision.

Fans expectations are high after Final Destination Bloodlines teaser

In the comments section of YouTube, the teaser has created a sensation and the comments are extremely positive. One of them says,

“THIS is how you make a trailer. Not the whole god damn movie in 2 mins but just a little teaser to actually get you to want to watch it. Nicely done.”

Some of them included sad remarks about Todd’s death while the others were full of excitement as they felt it was like meeting an old friend after a long time. It is assumed that this one would help revitalize the franchise’s decreasing Rotten Tomatoes scores previously with its fun twists and ingenious deaths.
