The horrors of dinosaurs taking over our world have been as refreshing to us as it for the first time in 1993. The CGI-infused with animatronics have mesmerized us since our childhood, and we are here for it again.
Even decades later, the franchise pushed boundaries with advanced VFX scenes that make dinosaurs virtually possible. The Jurassic World Rebirth trailer gives us the release date for a summer blockbuster that has bigger and badder Distortus Rex and winged mutadons.
Plot details of Jurassic World: Rebirth
The film occurs five years after Jurassic World: Dominion (2022). Dinosaurs find it hard to stay on the planet Earth due to its inhospitable ecology. Samples need to be taken from the three largest dinosaurs to make a life-saving drug for the benefit of mankind.
Zora Bennett (played by Scarlett Johansson) leads a covert operations team that extracts their DNA in an isolated equatorial region. This is the only area of Earth that is close to the natural habitat of the dinosaurs, where they thrive with pride.
With the change of time and the advent of better technology, the franchise knows how to make it bigger and scarier with more teeth, we suppose. And that is exactly what we are expecting. The disasters budding from the experiments from InGen’s genetic meddling seem unstoppable in the latest trailer.
Fans are once again treated to more evolved and menacing dinosaur species ,and Scarlett Johansson in Jurassic World makes it more exciting.
Universal Pictures has just dropped the trailer. Here you go:
Jurassic World: Rebirth is a creative reset, says screenwriter David Koepp
The seventh film in the franchise is a soft reboot for which the screenwriter, David Koepp, clarified that the new film will not deny any events from the last three films, as per Slash Film.
He said,
“[The new film is set] in that world…So it was a chance to start over…And Steven and I got to do the absolute most fun part of filmmaking, which is, ‘Hey, what if…’ and then you just make up stuff.” [Source]
He explained that the film will have an “ingenious new direction”, which gave him and Steven Spielberg, the executive producer of the franchise, an opportunity to take a fresh take on the story.
Koepp observed that the tone and characters of the franchise’s films changed after every three movies. He realized now he has a chance to make things creative this time and ask himself, “OK, what now?”
Koepp is particular about his script, for which he can go to any depths to make the film stand out. As he has been the screenwriter for Black Bag, too, he interviewed real-life spies, agents, and operatives to create a spy movie.
He is the kind of person who wants to know the ins and outs of the process so that he can bring the most authentic stories to the screen.
How does the Jurassic World Rebirth Trailer connect to previous films in the franchise?
The most obvious connection between Jurassic World: Rebirth and previous films of the franchise is the appearance of previous lab work that the theme park owners had. Their experimental work is left there, “leaving only the worst ones” there.
The trailer makes it obvious that a Jurassic Park reboot connection comes from this very island, where Jurassic Park research labs are located, and this is where the experiments began. In the hope of extracting the DNA, the recent research team reached the same place so that they can get help for a once-in-a-generation medical breakthrough.
Talking about the previous lab’s team, the main character of Jurassic Park, Dr. Alan Grant, will be played by Jonathan Bailey. He teased that his character, Dr. Henry Loomis, will have a strong connection to Dr. Grant, another clear hint that Jurassic World: Rebirth has a connection to previous films.
Moreover, the trailer shows a cast of teenagers, which might be an indication that the younger generation’s inclusiveness gives a new perspective to the story.
