From Neo to Norrin Radd? Is Keanu Reeves going to join the MCU? No grounded official confirmation has come from Marvel’s side for the casting of Keanu Reeves as Silver Surfer, either in Avengers: Doomsday (2026) or in a standalone Silver Surfer film.
Julia Garner has already been tapped for a different version of the character in Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025); however, the quintessential Norrin Radd hasn’t headed to the big screen yet. Fans want him and believe that he’d nail the role.
Keanu Reeves has two MCU dream roles
A few years ago, John Wick star revealed that he had two dream roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Wolverine and Ghost Rider. Unfortunately, Ghost Rider was taken up by Nicolas Cage while Wolverine was finalized with Hugh Jackman.
Rumors have been surfacing across social media discussions and forums that Reeves will be a great fit for the Silver Surfer role. His stoic presence, deep voice, and cosmic aura are some of the factors that seemingly work great for his MCU existence.
The speculative casting ideas are coming from all sides, but we are waiting for an official confirmation, with our fingers crossed, based on the fan wishlists.
Marvel’s Silver Surfer plans
There is no official news from Marvel that it will include the Silver Surfer in Avengers: Doomsday. Neither does it mean that Fantastic Four appearing in Doomsday will bring Galactus and Silver Surfer to Earth-616 for the war against Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday.
Marvel is eyeing a standalone movie for Silver Surfer, which Julia Garner has already debuted with the gender-flipped version, Shalla-Bal, in the Fantastic Four: First Steps.

According to DisInsider, Marvel is in the early development stages of a Silver Surfer movie, for which it is still unknown whether the focus will be on Shalla-Bal version of Silver Surfer (the female one) or Norrin Radd (the male version).
On the other hand, since Marvel has made a Fantastic Four reboot with a female Silver Surfer, played by Garner, it is speculated that the solo Silver Surfer movie will carry on the storyline of Shalla-Bal with Garner getting a single MCU appearance for the role. Still, we got to hear some solid confirmation from Marvel.
President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, has met with Keanu Reeves in the past years to find any prospect for his MCU role. As per Syfy, Feige said,
“We talk to him for almost every film we make. We talk to Keanu Reeves about … I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.” [Source]
But no deal has been locked in yet, especially for Reeves’ Silver Surfer role in any of the upcoming movies.
Is Keanu Reeves as Silver Surfer the MCU casting we’ve been waiting for?

It is no more a surprise that James Gunn wants to introduce his own new Batman instead of Robert Pattinson. Gunn did confirm that Pattinson will be playing Batman in Reeves’ The Batman II, but for Gunn’s own DC reboot with The Brave and the Bold, he wants someone new.
Why am I explaining this all here while we are talking about the Silver Surfer? Because it will still be no wonder if Marvel decides to follow the same path. What if Marvel wants to keep Julia Garner as the female Silver Surfer, Shalla-Bal, in its next Fantastic Four movies while wants to take someone new to play the male Norrin Radd in its standalone Silver Surfer film?
Chances are that Keanu Reeves might be called for the role then. Since the comics mention the classic male version, Norrin Radd, who is sidelined in Fantastic Four: First Steps, there still remains a vacancy for Keanu Reeves, which the fans believe is a fantastic idea.
One of Reddit threads showed fans being excited for his rumored Silver Surfer role in the MCU. One of the comments declared, “he’d be a great Silver Surfer” and a perfect Norrin Radd.
