Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning Trailer and Release Date Details

Tom Cruise has been with the Mission Impossible franchise since its beginning, unlike the James Bond franchise, which needs to change the titular actor after a few years.

Mission Impossible 8 or Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning trailer has just launched, and we are all waiting impatiently for Tom Cruise to set the screens on fire.

Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning plot details

There are no clear plot details of Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning as the trailer did not clarify what the story could be. Most part of the trailer is an amalgamation of the past Mission Impossible films, which makes it unclear where the story would head.

We can expect a plot outline for this part in a potential final official trailer. However, there are some scenes that give a glimpse of what the story could hold. For example, there is a big black container that has something special. Tom Cruise is seen lying in it and possibly possessed by AI, we can assume, as his eyes shine with blue light.

What do we understand from Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning trailer?

We understand that Tom Cruise is the ultimate superstar of the action genre, even at the age of 62. He is a running maven at THAT speed we just saw in the trailer. He is running like a Roadrunner [beep, beep] without any limits!

Also, there are other inferences. According to Screen Rant:

  • Ethan is handcuffed and is ushered through a government facility. He has been through it before but didn’t have to face the serious consequences. Let’s see how this turns up this time.
  • The trailer stated that Ethan gassed a security summit, which happened precisely “two months ago”. It means that the film’s settings are based two months after what happened in Dead Reckoning
  • Ethan gets a vision of his two close ones dying: Grace and Benji. How? Ethan is connected to a version of AI called Entity, when we see his eyes shine blue. He gets memories from the past, but it is still incomprehensible as the images move too fast and appear so many in a single frame. We should wait till possible final trailer for further clarification.
  • Nick Offerman, who plays the role of Sydney, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is impressed by Ethan’s achievements, stating CIA vault break-in is one of the most iconic ones. It subtly implies that he is going through all of Ethan’s missions and that Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning could be his last. But it would be too soon to say anything!
  • Fans are excited about Tramen Tillman’s casting in the film, who is known for his work in Severance. One of the fans wrote, “Is that you, Mr. Milchick?” [Source] What character is he playing is still under wraps.

Director’s vision for the film

Christopher McQuarrie told that the initial screening of the film almost gave someone a heart attack. He was happy that the $400 million budget film had the “right” elements and was on an amazing track for worldwide box office success.

McQuarrie said,

“We had a small screening, and someone said, ‘I was suffocating throughout the entire sequence. I almost had a heart attack.’” [Source]

Tom Cruise is known to have done some of the most dangerous stunts in Mission Impossible movies, especially in Dead Reckoning Part One, where he rides a bike off from the Norway mountain into the sky, without even the director knowing that he was going to do it in real.

It is even more intriguing now to have known this- which hyperbolic action sequence would it be that is equivalent to a viewer’s heart attack? Have you thought about the scene right at the start where Tom Cruise is clinging to an airplane? What if THAT is the stunt he had done without any help or assistance? What if THAT is the scene that has the possibility of giving us a heart attack?

McQuarrie has confirmed to Empire

“There are stunts in this movie that will melt your brain.” [Source

The director explained how hard it was to breathe doing that biplane sequence as sticking your face out in bare air at the speed of 120 to 130 miles per hour is almost near to death. Only Cruise could have done that, but still, it was extremely physically draining.

Another sequence that the director had teased about is so “intense” that he really wanted to “puke thinking about the stress”. It is an underwater sequence that is an even more death-defying stunt, the director has guaranteed.

Is Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning the last in the franchise?

Is Tom Cruise giving us a hint that the film is being billed as a potential conclusion to the franchise when he says, “I need you to trust me one last time”? What does he mean by “one last time”?

Besides, what does the name “The FINAL Reckoning” suggest? Is it the final part? Really?

These are all speculations and predictions. Tom Cruise does not want to confess that it might be the last as World of Reel cited that he only mentioned it to be “an epic, emotional journey of the entire franchise”.

But hold on, the director, Christopher McQuarrie, said it.

“It is the satisfying conclusion to a 30-year story arc. I’m pretty confident that people are going to feel that the title was appropriate.”

We are still confused about whether it is a definitive end of the franchise. Hayley Atwell called Tom Cruise and ‘final’ an oxymoron.
