Keeper movie plot
Obviously, Oz Perkins seemed obsessed with toys, like the titular killing monkey or the Longlegs doll that was used to murder families. However, this one is different.
According to World of Reel, Keeper follows the story of a couple, Tatiana Maslany and Rossif Sutherland, playing Liz and Malcolm respectively, who slip away for a romantic anniversary to a secluded cabin.
And you know it would be predictable enough that a haunting entity wreaks havoc in their lives, but of course, in Perkins’ style. The unspeakable evil is here to unfurl the cabin’s terrible secrets.
We have seen Perkins loves to put his secret ingredient into the recipe, which he likes to keep clandestine by all means. He adapted Stephen King’s story into something comic, which only he could have pulled off so well.

Behind Keeper’s production: Perkins’ horror movies success and impact
Perkins can’t stay idle. He wanted to do something during last year’s WGA strikes. He, therefore, hired a non-WGA writer, Nick Lepard, and got him to write for Keeper, as revealed by World of Reel.
That is when the shoot took place in three weeks, and production wrapped in August 2024. Keeper’s budget is known to be under $8 million.
Opening up with Variety, Perkins told that big budgets are never a guarantee for the movie’s success. Longleg’s budget was only $9 million, against which it grossed more than $125 million globally.
He verified that he is not going to “run off and make a video game movie or an X-men movie”. He would keep making the same stuff, which he is almost perfectly good at, but a better version.
Does Keeper movie have a teaser?
Yes and no. Yes, because the post-credits scene of The Monkey showed a glimpse of Perkins’ next movie, which is understandable, and might have been missed by several viewers. Very few people stick around for post-credits additions, you know.
However, some of the die-hard horror fans did take it as a ritual and noticed something interesting. The Monkey hinted at the Keeper’s captivatingly vile atmosphere in the said scene.
And no, because there isn’t a separate officially released teaser or trailer for the movie yet.
According to Indie Wire, short clips of differently dressed women are shown in different time periods in the post-credits clip. Some of them were clearly more modern than the others.
However, the scene soon changes to something horrifying as the women start screaming. They appear strange, entirely covered in blood. Definitely, an Oz Perkins vibe, yes?
Perkins himself said, “The post-credit thing that we’re offering is a glimpse at the next movie that we actually made in between Longlegs and The Monkey, which is such an insane thing to say.”

As we mentioned, there is no separate teaser for the film yet, there were no indications of The Monkey sequel in the post-credits scene. It could be possible that The Monkey wasn’t made that way. It is a complete whole and does not require any context that should follow up in its sequel.
We believe Perkins might want you to go to the theatres and watch The Monkey and wait for the post-credits scene. It seems to be a great strategy to increase the viewership of the current theatrical run. Clever Perkins!
Tatiana Maslany clarified it’s nothing like the previous movies
Tatiana Maslany has done a range of roles, from Diary of the Dead (2007) to voicing in A Butterfly Tale (2023). Now, despite a small role in The Monkey, she had caught the attention of Osgood Perkins.
The She-Hulk star unveiled that Keeper will be entirely different from the previous two horror gems rolled out by Perkins recently. This is the very reason that she is “drawn” to his work, as he does not want to do things on repeat.
The themes might appear recurrent, as seen in The Monkey and Longlegs, but the creepy aura that he creates to grip the audience right there is an inherited trauma viewers can expect from Keeper, she spilled the beans to Games Radar. She confirmed it’s a “different world”.
She hasn’t watched the final movie since its production wrapped, but she guaranteed a “little mischief” in Oz’s movies. She said it was an enjoyable experience working with Oz, even though the movie’s tone is “heavy”.
