Another Simple Favor (2025)

This film is a sequel to A Simple Favor (2018), a thriller comedy with style, in which martinis clash between Stephanie and Emily, the frenemies. Stephanie (Anna Kendrick) wrote a book about her experiences with her so-called best friend, Emily (Blake Lively).

In Another Simple Favor, while Stephanie is struggling to launch her book, Emily shows up after completing her imprisonment term. Emily invites her to be her bridesmaid at her lavish wedding in Capri.

The Assessment (2024)

In this dystopian sci-fi thriller, the world is facing climatic changes, and the government is stubborn enough to put strict policies in action that might test the survival of the population. A couple, Mia (played by Elizabeth Olsen) and Aaryan (played by Himesh Patel), is trying to have a baby, but with the permission of the government.

They have to undergo a severe, grisly assessment that is not only mysterious but also puts mental strain on them, questioning their own biggest will and freedom of having a baby. Virginia (played by Alicia Vikander) comes from the government’s side to their place to evaluate the couple’s every move. Scary enough already?

All the Old Knives (2022)

This American spy thriller film is based on a 2015 novel written by Olen Steinhauer with the same name. The mission is simple: Henry Pelham (played by Chris Pine) is assigned the task of discovering a mole among the office staff when an important piece of information is leaked, which has a risk of costing the lives of more than 100 people. 

The globe-trotting film takes us from Austria to England and California, where Pelham gets back with his one-time colleague and ex-interest Celia Harrison (played by Thandiwe Newton). 

They again get close, but still, their duty remains a priority. The pair has to face district challenges, which you can get a glimpse of in the trailer below.

Black Box (2020)

A photographer survived a car accident, but at the cost of what? His wife and his own memory. Mamoudou Athie is playing Nolan, the photographer who is suffering from amnesia. 

His illness makes it hard for him to connect with his daughter. He has to do something about it because he doesn’t want to lose his daughter now.

He undergoes an experimental treatment that puts him under another dilemma- questioning who he actually is.

The Covenant (2023)

Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant gained some impressive ratings from the general audience and a similar positive response from the critics. The critics’ consensus on Rotten Tomatoes stated, 

“A satisfying, well-acted war thriller with surprising dramatic depths, Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant tells a solid story with impressive restraint.” [Source]

Despite being a major war film, the movie has some serious emotional connections with the characters. John Kinley (Jake Gyllenhaal) and his interpreter, Ahmed (Dar Salim), naturally form a bond that is unbreakable after an ambush.

Ahmed risks his life to save John’s, and when John learns that Ahmed and his family’s safety are compromised in Afghanistan, John decides to go back to save them. His family wasn’t allowed a safe return path to America as was promised, and that is where the shatterproof friendship came in handy in the rescue mission.
